Bullhound

ORIGIN AND PURPOSE: The Nq Bullhound is a pigdog that is bred to handle the heat and humidity of north queensland and can find catch and hold boars in the thickest of rainforest , sugar cane crops and mangroves which are our main hunting grounds here on the coast and fast enough to run down a pig in the open western downs ,gulf and cape country .

BASE BREEDS: The three main breeds which make up this line is American bulldog , harlequine dane and staghound .

TEMPERMENT: All my dogs have an easy going temperament and are all excellent with kids as I have twin boys that are 4yr old and can do anything to the dozen or so dogs in my kennels/yard ,they are a pleasue to have at home, happy to just lay around up until their next hunt ,once on the back of the ute there keen to hunt from the moment we leave till I get back home .

TRAINING: These dogs have a natural ability to work off the ute providing the work is put into them and have a good nose as 80% of the pigs we catch we don't see and are all found .When walking creeks or cane paddocks they generally will work out at 50 to100m until they hit scent and will work out to a far distance finding pigs up to a klm or more.

SIZE: The average size of the Bullhound is around the 26 inch and 35 kg but ocasionaly some males will grow out to 28inch and up to 40 kg .

COAT and COLOUR: They come in a variety of colours but mainly white or white with a head patch is common as well as harlequine and merle .There coat is generally whiskery, with the odd smooth coated pup.

APPEARANCE: In appearance they are an athletic style of hound being leggy but muscular and deep chested also slightly broad in the muzzle .

Personally I myself have not hunted the Bullhound out of Queensland but I have sent many pups and working dogs to other states around Australia.
